Breaking a Akita's Bad Habits
Conditioning a akita to lose bad habits is not the easiest task to overcome. But, it's all in the timing. All akita owners should not expect to bring a akita home and not have to train it. Akitas are verisimilar to people. They have personalities that may compel them to act in a particular way. Consequently, patience coalesced with kind firm discipline is necessary for teaching and old or new akita new tricks.

Barbara Bush wrote "Millie's Book", a book about her English Springer Spaniel, Millie. The book was an instant success. It was on the bestseller list for 29 weeks. Millie was the most popular "First Dog" in United States history.
Use these tips, tricks and strategies to discourage unacceptable behavior:

There is absolutely no difference between an Australian silky terrier, silky toy terrier and a silky terrier. They are all the same breed, but have different names in different countries, specifically in Australia, Canada and the United States.
1) When your akita behaves or commits an intolerable act, give him or her a deep, short growl. The growl is effective because it emulates the canine's mother. Just as the pup's mother would confront the akita face to face with the growl, you should do the growl in your puppy's face to discourage the unwanted behavior.

St. bernards have a well-deserved reputation as rescue dogs. In fact, the most successful mountain rescue dog ever was a st. bernard. His name was Barry. He lived during the early 1800's, during which time he saved 40 lives.
2) If your puppy or new akita continues the behavior, repeat the growl. However, the second one should be a little louder but not any longer than the first growl.

The joys of motherhood struck with a vengeance when, in 1984, a great dane became the third dog to join the record holders for largest litter. She had twenty-three puppies. Interestingly, each of the three dogs that hold the record are different breeds.
3) In cases where your akita continues to behave poorly, snap at the canine in the fashion a akita. In other words a short bursting growl followed by a snapping of your teeth.

The springer spaniel breed is well-known for having very high energy levels. In fact, the "spring" in "springer spaniel" referred to this dog's ability to spring out at, or startle game. They are excellent hunting dogs.
Amongst DOG trainers, the emulation of DOGS is the subject of great controversy. Most akitas will not outgrow poor behavior without the guidance of rules. Many trainers consider it a negative form of discipline to act like a canine to enforce discipline. However, other DOG advocates consider it an effective way to demonstrate authority without raising one's voice.

Lhasa Apsos are small, long-haired dogs. Believe it or not, they were originally used by monks to guard temples. This accounts for their quiet and friendly nature, which can easily change if their owners or home are threatened.
Other trainers recommend discouraging poor behavior by giving a akita a sniff. Since it demonstrates that the owner is the elder or alpha, it can catch your akita or puppy off guard and make them aware that is the subordinate.

The Lundehund is a breed which has lived solely on two islands in the north of Norway. The Lundehund has sever extra toes and paw cushions! That makes it excellent as a climbing dog, bred for rugged terrain. It also has the unusual ability to close its ears.
