Where to Find a Free Adult Akita or Puppy
Finding either a free adult akita or a free puppy may not be nearly as hard as you think. Now if you're looking for a specific breed for show or breeding purposes, then that's an entirely different story, but if you're looking for a good family job, then you have a lot of options.
In the country, it's not uncommon for a farmer or some families to let their DOGS roam outside. While this is great for the DOGS, it also leads to a lot of pregnancies and liters of puppies that the family may not want.

The basenji could really be considered more like a cat than a dog. Not only is it the only breed of dog that does not bark, but is also a meticulous cleaner. Unlike other dogs, the basenji actually licks itself clean, just like a cat!
Sometimes a hunter will want one or two puppies from a good hunting DOG, but not necessarily the others. Asking around, or paying attention to small town newspapers will often lead you to families who are looking to give away free puppies, or even older akitas. It's not uncommon to get akitas who are several months old because the family couldn't find homes for all the puppies. Sometimes this is even a better option because these akitas may be used to children or house broken.
Also pay attention when people are making a major move. If your neighbors have a sweet akita, but are moving from a town to a cramped apartment in a huge city, then they might very well rather see their sweet akita in a good home rather than at a shelter, and if the akita at least knows you, this could ease the burden a little bit for you and the new pet.

Many people will swear that they own a golden labrador. The problem is that golden labradors do not exist! There is no purebred dog called a golden lab. The dog is probably either a golden retriever or a labrador retriever.
There are always people looking for good homes for their puppies and DOGS, so just keep an eye open and ear to the ground, and you are sure to come up with some great options for your new pet without having to spend a penny.

The largest breed of dog that is recognized by the American Kennel Club is the Irish Wolfhound, which stands thirty to 30 to 35 inches at the top of the shoulders and weighs 105 to 125 pounds.
